Roadmap for Beginner Guitar Players

How long it takes for someone to learn to play guitar really comes down to how much practice one puts in. Of course, just putting in the time is not the optimal way to proceed. Your progress will also depend on how effectively you practice. In other words, just playing the same thing over and over again the same way may not result in much progress. Taking on new challenges, such as more difficult songs with new chords, strumming patterns, licks and riffs etc. will.

Remember, learning to play music on any instrument is about taking little steps. Trying to take on more complicated parts early on in your music education could lead to unneccessary frustration and ultimately cause you to give up entirely. Fact is, approximately 90% of folks who attempt to play guitar abandon the instrument before the first year is over. So be sure to take it slow and practice, among other things, patience. Lots and lots of patience! Within three months you’ll be playing some of your favorite songs on guitar.
